HECM Trends October 2015

It’s pretty eerie how closely the volume trend line for 2015 has followed 2013 over the past 3 months – see the top of page 1 of this month’s HECM Trends report below by clicking the image. That won’t hold up for November’s volume, but if December shows a tick upward that would be the best news on the trendline this year!

  • Colorado is the only state in the top 10 to increase its growth rate YTD from last month – and at 30.7% is making a run at the growth rate crown held by CA and FL
  • Among cities, Brooklyn and San Diego both increased their YTD growth rate but not enough to move up from their #5 and #4 rankings yet

Full year volume is trending toward 56,000 HECM endorsements with just one month of estimation. That would put this year just about the midpoint of the past two years, which matches pretty close to the way it felt living through all three. Here’s to ending a year for the first time in recent memory without anticipating another shoe falling for the industry!
